Design & Launch: G-The Magazine of Greenville

These pages are from the design and launch of G-The Magazine of Greenville (S.C.). A town that's on the rise. Newly re-done downtown and growth has made it not only a popular place to live, but also to visit. We wanted to focus on lifestyle which was missing in other local pubs. The area is home to more than 80 international industries, so for many years regional mags lacked local "flavor," and focused a lot on business. It was a great project working with managing editor Heidi Williams, and editor Jack Bacot. I worked from Charleston, long distance, while they worked from their office in downtown Greenville. The distance had its challenges but we were pretty excited with the final product. Locals were floored that they now had their own city magazine.


Cover feature: Artists in Residence. The painters, potters, and other talented folks in a section of town that was forgotten for years. Pictured with her pottery is Lily Stratton. Feature: Harvest Bold. A fun feature based on fall harvest, shot on location at the historic Hagood Mill & Folklife Center in the Upstate of SC's Pickens County. Photographs by: Peter Frank Edwards, Styled by: Joann Land, Hair & Makeup by: Karen Weast.




Feature: The Big Dig. A dig in the upstate of South Carolina. Treated the artifacts as graphic elements....puts them in the spotlight. Written by Gary Hyndman, photographs by Steven McBride.
